Well, for one thing, a 420, of any configuration is a desireable "COLLECTOR TRACTOR" and is priced accordingly. My father had a 420T for 30 years and it certainly did all of the things you mentioned and more. As far as price, if it is in good running shape, the tin is straight, comes with a loader, I would say that all things considered, it isn't too outrageous, but you can get "more tractor" for less money, although perhaps not in John Deere Green and Yellow!. If you should get this tractor, I suggest that you try to "restore" it. A real "restoration" would be prohibitively expensive I am sure, but if you fixed it up, took care of any dents, fixed or replaced any gauges, lights, etc and gave it a new paint and decal job, you would likely have a tractor y9ou would be proud of, and you'd also get to meet some interesting people. A 420 should handle a 6 foot blade, 5 foot mounted brush cutter or a 6 foot pull type, you could plow 2x14" bottoms with it, disc 6-8' of tandem disc, operate a small manure spreader (like a JD 34), drill post holes, and you can expect it to start in cold weather with minimal help from tank heaters. If the 420 looks beat-up with mangled tinwork, appears to have a lot of oil leaks, has all broken gauges, is really rusty, and has bald tires, etc, you might want to think about it some. Doing a LOT of "fixing" can be expensive quickly. Good luck!

The window was dirty and I was driving into the evening sun. It was hard to see and it was my first pass down the field. I got the tractor so stuck that the underside of the tractor was resting on the ground. My uncle wanted
