In the news paper this weekend, a guy about 5 miles from our farm was pulling trees out of a woods with an 8-N Ford tractor. Guy had about 12 acres and a house there and had not lived in the "country" long. The tractor did not have a drawbar so he hooked the chain to the place where the toplink hooks on to the tractor, wayyyyyy above the axle. Im betten he never got the first log moved before the tractor came over on him. He was killed instantly by the steering wheel. The tractor it still sitting, on its wheels now from the rescue crews, beside the woods and you can see it from the I-81 interstate. When are these people going to learn to hook tractors to the drawbar ONLY !!! This was not an accident, it was ignorance on the part of the operatior that killed him. Now a wife and kids have to live alone because of this tragity. Please be careful tractorin out there, and for goodness sake, stop and think before you do something stupid around a tractor.
