Depends. When I worked as a motorcycle mechanic we to did the industry standard "Champion" tune-ups. Those are when the customer did a tune-up themselves with Champion plugs. The bike would be brought into the shop because it ran so poorly. Swap out the Champion plugs with a good set of NGK's, and away the bike would go, singing beautifully. That said, my RX-7 with its rotary engine dearly loved the wrong type of Champion plug. With the correct NGK plugs (an expensive special 4 electrode unit), I'd get maybe 10k before I'd have to replace them. With the wrong single electrode Champion, I'd go who knows how long before replacing them (I say it that way because I never did replace those plugs).
