Earnie, Unless memory fails me, the orginal Chrysler hemi was in the Imperial and it had 331 CID. The Desoto was 354. The 392 came along in 57 in the Imperial. The first Chrysler 300 was a New Yorker that was ran down the Imperial assembley line in '55. It had a 331 from the Imperial installed and an Imperial grill as well. Taken to the test track, it set a new speed record. Rated at just a tad over 300 HP, the name was chosen to emphasise the power and the model: C300.( C was used to distinguish the New Yorker body from the Imperial body.) The next one was called the 300 B, then the 300C. The last of the letter cars was the 300 L in 1965. Only 2105 were built. ( I have most of one in my collection. All but the original HI-PO 413) The Chrysler 300 kept the Hemi until 1960 when it was replaced with the 413. The '62 model was given the cross ram induction, lighter body and stiffer suspension. This produced the fastest production car to date. All this talk of the old Hemi's makes me want to finish putting my 392 together and dropping it in one of my 66 300 bodies.

After my grandfather’s death in 1955, J.P. Rollins, son of the landowner, used the tractor. In the winter 1985, while in his possession the engine block cracked and was unrepairable. He had told my father
