There are no adjustments in the steering gear. Locate the source of the play, there are likely to be more than one source, and eliminate it one step at a time. Most of it is probably in the verticle steering shaft in the housing. Look for worn keyways,etc. The hydraulic control - First be sure that it's the valve that's frozen and not simply the linkage to the valve. This spool valve can be removed without removing the unit from the tractor. If you must, you can remove the back plate or head of the unit and expose the back of that valve also. Perhaps a few gentle taps with a nonmetalic something will loosen it up.
