PTO Conversion?

Looking at a Case 1370 with 1000 PTO. Baler & Swather need 540 PTO. Dealer will give me a "converter" and claims this will work well for haying operations on 150hp tractor. Anyone done this? Any thoughts, good or bad? Thanks
