Check the Crank end play as Gman stated.. but also check the clutch drive balancer on the right side.. if the splines are worn on the balancer, and it is lose on the crank, it will clunk back and forth against the splines on the crank... It also has an offset weight to help balance the engine, make sure it is timed correctly... If you can not see the timing marks on it.. the counter balance should be oppositte the throw of the crank on that side.
