I was told to look for an 8N when I bought my small acreage for mowing, a little blade work, etc. When I bought my MF35 diesel, the guy who was pushing the 9N loved it...said "Now that's a real tractor!" The guy who owns a Ford 3000 also likes it better than his Ford, as does the guy with the older Farmall. I'm told it's got more hp than any of those, but the Ford has 4 wheel drive whereas the MF doesn't. I wouldn't trade it for anything of comparable cost, and not much costing a bit more. Somebody else posted 35 hp. If I recall correctly the manual lists the 35 with Perkins diesel at 38 hp...no big difference. I don't know the other Ford models, but what I've seen in a lot of discussions other than the Ford forums is that folks consider the N series (8N, 9N, NAA, etc.) to be yuppie tractors for play, not to get real work done. I guess that's a matter of opinion. I also guess that it would apply to other tractors in the same category. Something I don't remember if anybody mentioned is that the N series doesn't have live PTO - correct me if I'm wrong. You definitely want live PTO. The MF35 has live PTO with a two stage clutch. My opinions! But, I'm a relative newbie to tractors, so maybe this will just spark up the discusion from real experts.

As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
