I disagree on the subject of cost of repairs. I'm a JD tech in a dealership, and I've worked on a bunch of 40 series tractors. I recently put a clutch in a 1486. I found the IH easier to split than a Deere, but you'll also wear out that dry clutch quicker than you'll ever wear out a Perma-Clutch, if you can wear it out at all - especially doing loader work, which is what this one is used for. The TA also isn't any picnic to get to and repair, from what I've seen in the I&T manual. And like I posted before, the 4440 has no business in the same field with 14 and 15 prefix IH tractors. It's only rated 130 horsepower from the factory, so it's competition was the 1086. Give me a good 4840 any day, and that's coming from someone the grew up on red tractors.
