Flushing crud from auxiliary hydraulic system

I loaned my MF with front end loader to someone. When I got it back, the front end loader hydraulics was very erratic in operation. When I dropped the filter shell I found white goo everywhere, and the clogged filter full of the same white goo was lying at the bottom of the outer shell I had removed. The spring which is supposed to go under the filter to hold it up to its connections was missing. The person who I loaned my tractor to has a pressure washer which they like to use a lot. I cautioned them beforehand about the system breather and pointed it out to them. To be SURE they got NO water anywhere near it. Evidently they did get water into the system, which created the white goo and clogged the system. So they just dropped the filter, and never said a word to me about what they had done. When I told them later about what I had found, their answer was to stop speaking to me. Family!!! Also, they ran it down into a shell/sand slurry mixture, so that it covered the cylinder seals. Should I replace these also, and if so, how big a job is this? Now I would like to properly repair my MF. What should I use to flush out the system before putting it back into use. I am afraid of using the wrong thing and damaging the seals. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
