Paul, Right on the x6x series Fords. The older one like an 801 only had a single stage clutch. Push the pedal in and transmission and pto stopped. But pto would run at engine speed with transmission in neutral. These have a "live" pto, it is connected to the power source, but dependent on a single clutch pedal. That was the big selling point on the 60 series over the 00 series. The 01 series I'm not sure about, never worked on one. The tractors with the lever for the PTO clutches still have a 2 stage clutch, just use a series connection. Usually a Borg and Beck or Laycock. Case/David Brown uses them, too in the 1210 and 1410 (and updated) series. Older 990 uses a parallel linkage with both clutches controlled by the foot pedal. Really takes practice to "feather" a pto on the x6xx Fords. Still get a lot more motion than you want. Best way I've found is to use the starter motor with the PTO engaged and the kill switch out.
