Narrow vs. Wide front ends

Thanks to each and everyone of you who took the time to respond to my previous questions. I am looking forward to really doing some research on my first tractor. I tend to like the looks of the "narrow" or tricycle front ends, but have been advised to stay away from them. Is this for stability reasons only, or is there something else? Also, they seem to be a bit taller....is this good or bad for basic utility work, i.e. mowing, etc.
