If you have the 8 speed forward / 2 reverse
transmission the High / Low lever has to be in
just the right place for the starter to work. First
try wiggleing the lever forward and back a little,
if necessary you can try bypassing this switch
DANGEROUS PRACTICE SO BE CAREFUL
by connecting the two wires below the dash.

Another thing that has caused me problems is
dirty battery connections. Clean and tight.
