Hi Everyone, I am having a starter problem with my ford 3000 tractor. Recently when I turn the key to engage the starter the dash lights come on but the starter fails to turn. No noise whatsoever is made. It's the same effect you get when trying to start the tractor while it is in gear (has one of those transmission protector switches). The first time it happened it started fine, I rode it about 1,000 feet, turned it off and then tried to restart it and nothing. I had a friend rock the tractor forward an inch and it restarted fine. I used the tractor and parked it. The next day the same thing. This time I was alone though and could not rock the tractor so I kicked the starter and then it started but again, I drove 1,000 feet, turned it off and it wouldn't restart. This time though I was on a hill and could let the tractor drift a little thinking the rocking from before helped but it didn't. I don't know much about how starter's work. From reading past posts I guess when power is applied it engages the flywheel, turns the engine and then disengages the fly wheel? Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone taken a starter off a 3000 before? It looks like there is 3 bolts. Two on the outside and one hidden on the inside. I'm hoping it's only the 2 outside bolts because the third one looks pretty impossible. Is it ok to remove the starter to check it out? Do I have to pay attention to any gears and how they line up? Thanks, Sam

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
