I have a need for a roller to even out my driveway. It is a low lying area that recently got flooded. I got 20 tons of gravel brought in, but now I need to level and compact it. When i walk on the gravel, it is still quite soupy feeling and uneven. So, I was thinking I should be able to whip up a roller to pull behind my Ford 650 tractor. I have plenty of steel scrap, and I figure all i need is a good 55 gal drum with both ends intact, and no holes. I'm thinking that I would run a pipe up the center of the drum for an axle to pass through. I'd weld the pipe to the ends of the drum. I'll need a drum with a removable filler cap, so I can fill with water (and calcium chloride I guess, to prevent rusting?). I'd fashion a yoke out of box tubing and arrange to just pull it from a drawbar. I wonder if it would make sense to fashion a 3pt hitch mounting so that it could be lifted and transported? This would make it easier to manipulate, especially when backing up. Is this ever done? Hmm.. Any particular suggestions? I need to locate a good drum first. I'll haunt all the local industrial areas I can find, but any suggestions as to what kind of place woudl have a good type of drum? I guess an oil drum woudl be the thing to get. What other substances come in drums?

It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
