trying to get a 9n to stop/shut off after running.

After a long and grulling two years of off and on trying to get my tractor running,now I have changed to 12v. and hooked the coil to ign.side of switch.tryed to hook up to acc. side as advised but didnt make a diffrance.just reach over and unplug resister right now to kill. could just hook up a toggle switch but would like the right way to shut off tractor. thanks for responses.
