Greg, Im not sure how you have that sucker wired or the type ignition switch you have, but there should be a terminal on the switch that is hot only when the key or lever is turned to ON. Then a wire from there should go through the series ballast resistor and to the coil high side with coil low side going to distributor and points to ground. You must be feeding the resistor and/or coil from somewhere thats always hot if turning off the switch doesnt kill the engine. John T
