Like is said, the only stupid question is the one you DON'T ask! I've nothing to add about the previous posts in using a meter or test lite. You likely know this but if you're not familiar with electrics, you might want to check the polarity (+/-) of the ignition coil wires. The wire from the ignition switch to the coil is (-/hot) and the wire from the coil to the distributor is (+/ground). The coil posts will be marked (+) and (-).
