Its the classic set of symptoms for a very restricted fuel flow. Could be a clogged carburetor inlet screen (saw that on a JD 2020 last summer acted EXACTLY as you describe), or the fuel line gummed to just pass dribbles of fuel (saw that on my dad's garden tractor a decade ago), a stuck float valve... All those for fuel causing it. If its the fuel line it may take more aggressive augering than just blowing air. I've heard of a leaf in the gas tank being sucked to the outlet doing the same thing. Gas tank cap vent clogged will do it too. Then there could be a failing coil or condenser in the ignition system that is heat sensitive. But I'd clean out all the fuel lines and that inlet screen first. Gerald
