Hi, Using ATF to clean injectors is an old trucker's trick and I can tell you from personal experience that it really does work. When treating an engine with a fouled injector, you can definitely feel the difference within only about 10 to 15 miles. Cleans ‘em right up. I can't tell you why, but it has something to do with the detergent in the ATF. However, where I would differ with your friend is his method of its application. It would seem to me that he is running the risk of slugging the pump with ATF. I would much rather mix the ATF in the fuel tank at a rate of 1 qt ATF to 20 gal. of fuel. At least, this is how I apply it; just put a quart of ATF into the tank and then fill with fuel to properly mix the two. Regards, Allan
