I had a friend that has a metal building company when hestarted he needed a dozer so he bought 2 nice JD 350's 200 miles away. He drove home rented a pair of big Uhaul trucks and some ply wood. He laid the plywood down so the tracks wouldnt kill the floor and drove a machine in each truck bound them mdown and came home. At the time our local Uhaul renters were bad about robbing folks with charges and sch added onto the trucks. My friend got all the way home and the last 20 miles hit a tree that fell in the road. the dozer blade dented the back of the cab and killed the tie downs in the sides of the bed. They ranted abit but he didnt really care.
