Converting to alternator

I use the same alternators that were used on the late 70s GM cars and trucks with the built in regulator. Use a #10 or larger wire to run from the post on the back to the starter battery terminal. A #16 guage wire from the post on the back of the alternator to an oil pressure switch located somewhere that isn't too hard to get to. The 2 wires from the pigtail on the side of the alternator are joined together and run to the other side of the oil pressure switch. These oil pressure switches are available at any auto parts stores. I also like to do away with amp gauges too and install a volt meter. Doing away with the amp gauge usually requires extensive rewiring, most old tractors need to be rewired anyway. I have used this system for 15 years and have had no problems.
