Clint,One of the important investments that you need to make is an operators manual for that 9700.Read it over good and then use your tractor.That being said the dual power on the ford tractor was a valuble asset that worked very well.As long as it was not abused it gave good service.It was intended to let you shift to a lower gear ratio when the engine began to lug and lose rpm's.You can shift either up or down at any time. I would just use common sense and not use it when its not needed say as running full throttle in road gear.Keep the hydraulic filters changed and it will give you good service.
