Hi Steve, I let some used hydraulic oil set for about a year one time and it really seperated it's self. Water and trash on the bottom. I poured it thru a filter and it came out really clean with very little in the filter media. One other poster(?) set up a cleaning container, 1-5gal pail above the other one with a piece of cotton rope between them. He stated the used motor oil came out clean enough to use for secondary oiling. T_Bone
