Mr. Meiewski My neighbor bought a Versatile 800 new in the early 80's. Never did a damn thing wrong, when the clutch went, his 15-16 year old son changed it in the field in about an hour (45 min. seems right, maybe). It now has something like 9000 hours, uses a little oil but still pulls good. I've seen it hop like a big rabbit when it was stuck with a cultivator on it's tail (it has definately seen some abuse) nothing broke. Some Versatiles had good engines and some bad (talked to dealer at auction sale, they were very interested in the ser. no.), I don't know if this applies to the 800? Based on what I've seen that thing go through I say that's what you would want. Another neighbor had Deeres, when he had to change a clutch, the engine had to come out. Total crap as far as sevicability goes. They compared notes as to dollar spent on fuel, parts, downtime, servicability, etc. the Versitile won easily. V-8 and diesel don't belong in the same sentence for this reason: 6 cyl. = 7 main bearings.....V-8 cyl. = 5 main bearings. My opinion. Hope it helped. Best of luck Zoltan

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
