Any starter with field coils will run the correct direction when fed from a pos or neg ground system. System polarity only becomes an issue with a permanent magnet field starter as used on small lawn mower/tractor type engines. Glad someone posted that one wire Delco alternators converted to pos ground are avalible. One thing to consider is that if you install a pos ground alternator on a tractor that must run at a moments notice( driveway cleaner etc), do you have someone that stocks these specialty pos ground alternators or parts? if it fails. the pos ground conversion would need a special regulator, diode trio and rectifier unit. My point is that it might be better to convert the tractor to neg ground so standard, off the shelf parts can be used.
