Concerning deer in gardens: I recently did a literature search on the subject, since having the same problems. Cornell University has an excellent paper on this subject. Type in deer control methods and do a google search. Lot of information.
The most mentioned products are egg deraviitives, and particularly rotten eggs. Spray these maerials around the garden's perimeter every few days Good luck.
