I believe in many parts of the world, the spelling "cheque" is usually used. As for the bad spelling and bad grammar, I have read that it is done on purpose by the sending party. Reason? To make us (you) feel superior in intelligence to they are, sort of gets us thinking we're pretty smart. Obviously, the scams work sometimes and thats why these guys are still doing it. As for playing around and wasting their time (and yours), I think the best way to deal with it is just ignore it. Interesting post though, just shows us how they operate.
