Looks like you have checked everything pretty well, but one more thing to check would be that little insulator where the wire comes out the side of the dist body to the coil. There is a metal strip that connects the points to the stud and I've seen this strip get pushed against the dist body and short out. Also, there is a little insulator inside the dist body that the head of the stud seats against. I've seen these look pretty good, but still leak current. Also good to clean everything up real good, as dirt can cause a short, also.
