I am cleaning my gass tank right now, it is for a Allis Chalmers C 1948, no gas cap and don't know how long it has sat with out one. Filled it with water and lye, ratio of 1 table spoon per gal. water, took a stainless steel rod slipped a piece of rubber hose up to where it come will come out of the tank and a piece of hose on the bottem to keep it from shorting out there, Hooked up the battery charger + to the rod and neg - to the tank. Just letting the electrolisis remove the rust from inside the tank. Checked it after 2 hours, lots of rust on my rod and more floating inside tank. Will remove electrolite tomorrow and check inside of tank. I already cleaned my oil bath air filter using electrolisis, looks like new metel and no oil or grud in the wire mesh.. also valve cover... the rust that is left on, just wipes off to expose bar metel. will let you know how tank is after tomorrow.
