A trailer is just one component in a "set". You can have the best and the biggest trailer around, and not have enough truck. It's a balanced package. The truck is the most important part of the equation. You need wieght, wieght hauling capacity, brakes, tires, and hitch. A light truck will just get shoved around by a trailer loaded too heavy. I would try to find a trailer that would handle no more than double the GVW of your truck. That's pushing the safe limits. Pintle hook hitches are intended for heavy loads. There are pintle hitch trailers, as well as the pintle hitch itself, that aren't so heavy. For the most part, they are heavy duty though. A GOOD ball hitch (class III, or class IV) will handle most any trailer in the "hauling range" you need. I'm an advocate for gooseneck trailers. They will handle a load MUCH better than an equivilent bumper hitch trailer. They allow you to scale some of your tongue wieght on the FRONT wheels of your truck. That makes for a much better, and safer ride. No more bobbing up and down with dips in the road. I have a 25'+4' Ridgeline gooseneck. It's a 14000 lb GVW trailer. I pull it with an '04 Dodge 3/4 ton, with 24v Cummins. Lots of power, good wieght, ample brakes. The biggest load I've hauled so far, is around 20,000 GVW. If you can afford it, go "over-kill" with truck, trailer, and hitch. That'll keep you safe, legal, and give you room for "future expansion". By the way, should you go with a gooseneck, I'd highly recommend the B & W "Hide-A-Ball" hitch. Very well made, and you still have your pick-up bed, should you need it. John

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead! I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
