2010 will not go in reverse

My wifes father has a 2010 gas all foward gars work fine. But none of the reverse gears work. After taking off the gear box cover nothing look broke. On the clutch fork that controles the reverse is a round object that has three fiber plates in it.this unit slides with in 1/4" of ingageing reverse. After removing the external linkage you still can not get reverse it just grinds. please help.
