txblu, Many of the systems from the 50's and 60's did not have a housing pressure regulator in the return line . If you have one in the return line, then his advice is correct , if you don't have one , then you had better find out what caused the line to be blocked . Usually blocked by the pieces of the governor drive ring that has become old and brittle and has shattered and floated out with the return fuel. If this is the case , some where in the near future you will cut off the rivots that are in the gov drive plate and at that point you no longer have any governor control. You don't have runaway engine, you have over speed engine and runaway operator. george

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet).
