sounds like a fuel flow problem..it runs for a couple of minutes than dies, this would indicate thats its using whats in the carborator and the fuel is not getting replenished fast enough...pull the fuel line out at carborator and turn on gas feed all the way open, you should see a steady stream of gas come out..Im not sure how 2000's gas turn on devices operate but on my 8n 2 turns open releases the main tank fuel and full open releases the reserve fuel and main tank fuel..if your only turning it 2 turns and it quits after 2 minutes than ya either have low gas or main gas tube is clogged in the tank..opening the valve fully will remedy this until ya have a chance to clean the tank..as for the battery it sounds like it needs a good charge or its bad and ya need a new one..by the way what did that so-called mechanic do to the 2000?he could have screwed something up that also could cause the problem..did he go into the carborator? did he mess with the fuel lines or the tank?
