Massey Ferguson stuck in reverse

I have a Massey Ferguson 231 stuck like crazy in reverse. loaned to a friend for awhile and had to load it backwards to get it home. checked clutch adjustment and it seems okay. High and low work but can't shift out of reverse. getting neck strain, someone please give me a clue.
