Your best bet would be to try out both brands and see what you think of them yourself. They are both excellent brands, but it's up to you to decide what tractor would best suit your needs. Why are you really concerned about what machine might pull a tiny bit more?, are you gonna pull it in competition or are you going to use it for what it was designed for?. As a rule, a heavier machine will pull more, but the heavier the machine, the worse it will be on your lawn unless the ground is very dry. You ought to try checking out the manufacturers websites to compair features, warranty, horse powers, etc... As far as which machine will hold up the best, nothing lasts if it's abused or not maintained and both New Holland and John Deere put out excellent quality stuff.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
