Our 38 Z has a mag. I'm not sure right off hand,
ButI don't think most manufacturers went to battery ignition till the late 40s. If it helps,
an Allis Chalmers mag from a WC is the same. It is a
Fairbanks-Morse model FMJ. Any tin shop should be
able to make the battery box lid. It has straight
sides with about a 1" lip and a notch at each end for the cables to come out. Most high school shops
even have a sheet metal brake. If you know any kids of high school age that are taking metal shop
they could make you one as a class project.
