I had a new system(electric air-conditioning unit and gas furnace) put in 8 years ago. The brand I put in was Goodman. They market units under a couple of other names; Janitrol and Amana come to mind. I haven't had any problems and the air-conditioning gets a good workout every year(I live in Charleston SC). The contractor that installed it said I saved 1000$ off of the price of a name brand(Carrier, Trane etc...) The compressor in the A/C unit is a Bristol which is supposed to be one of the best in the business. Just my two cents worth.
