I'd stick with the additive. My reason is that adding hardened valve seats to a cast iron cylinder head is not for the unskilled. The head has little ductility to absorb the plastic deformation of the press fit. And a light press can cause problems if the engine runs hot...the seat can get "dropped" which is a catastropic failure. The other benefit of tetraethyl lead is that it boosts octane (not a big deal with tractors which were designed to run 70 octane juice) significantly at a surprisingly low cost. Not so good for the environment. I believe the newer additives use MMT which is enviro-safe.
