I had this same problem only with a John Deere D. The mag would spark on both plug wires at the same time. After spending a lot of money on cap and rotor and wires, I discovered that the solution was as stupid as spending the money. What I was doing was testing for spark with both plugs out and the wires hooked to the plugs. What I didn't realize that there was a lot of rust and corrosion under the mag where it mounted to the engine. Therefore when the mag inpulse snapped the electricity took the path of least resistance. It sparked on the cylinder that was firing and grounded by sparking on the other plug to ground! Sounds amazing doesn't it? I removed the mag and cleaned the mounting bracket with some sandpaper and the problem was solved! T. Taylor
