The generator on this lantern is an oddball. Its not a straight tube with the cleaning wire/mechanism inside. It comes out of the valve assembly at a 45 degree angle then arcs up and over and enters the mantle housing from the top. There"s no provision for a cleaning wire. The generator tube (1/4" aluminum) is filled with some sort of wick or packing. My guess is that the generator tube is too far from the mantle and doesn"t get hot enough to vaporize the fuel and create back pressure in the tank. I don"t want to futz with it too much and create a fire hazard by getting the tube too hot either.
