I know for a fact that plastic manifolds used on the 3.8 litre will fail. GM is real proud of it they call it a 3800 Series. Ask any mechanic. GM knows they will fail. They know the majority are out of warrenty. Mine failed out of warrenty. 53,000 miles. Some last longer than mine did. My local NAPA keeps a manifold on the shelf. $300 part. It will fill the top end full of anti-freeze. I almost bent a rod. The engine wouldn't turn over. Lucky I caught on. I put a new manifold. They run an exhaust tube into the plastic manifold where thr throttle body connects to it. Then approx 1/8 inch away on both sides of this exhuast tube they have water jackets. All molded in plastic. Real smart. After being heated and cooled numerous times the plastic becomes brittle and fails letting anti-freeze to leak into the top of engine. I saved the manifold. As soon as I can figure out how to post a picture I will show you where it happens. I will never own another GM ever. They wonder why they continue to lose market share. I am not as upset that it failed as I am that they didn't evan try to make it right with GM owners. Exceed my expectations for once. Make it right.
