Allan,
I have replaced a few intake gaskets on the GM's and they will leak inside the same as outside. sometimes they will leak inside long before they leak outside. best way I know to catch it is to do your own oil change. And Allan, all dealerships are not the same, some will do their best to help. here is a good example, in 2001 I bought a new ford car, last year my grandson tells me he want's to be a mechanic and would like to go to U.T.I. in Houston. I didn't like the idea but we gave in. sent him to Houston in the car, then the rains came and the floods started in that aera. he called about nine one nite and said he ran into some deep water that was over the hood. tow truck pulled it out and hauled him to his apt. Then he called and said there was oil leaking out of the engine. The next day I hauled my blazer to Houston and my car back home, ten hours each way. car had 47,000 miles on it and a busted piston and a rod thru the side of the block. I called ford and told them what happened, they said haul it over and they would look at it. fifty mile trip to the dealer and ten minutes talking to the service manager and I was on my way home without the car. I only got one call from the dealer and it was to let me know that the factory rep would have to take a look at it. I told them to let me know before they did any work on it. ten days later I called them to see what was going on, service manager said come get it,it will be ready by the time you get here. I was one mad old dude that they had installed an engine without calling to tell me the cost, when he told me the cost was fifty dollars I got over the mad spell. when we got there and saw that they had cleaned the car inside and out I apologized for the things I said over the phone and tried to give the guy a hundred bucks, he wouldn't take it, said it was all in the line of duty..

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
