Surface roots need to be ripped out. A box blade is a good tool for this. You can also use it to move soil from high spots to low spots. I don't know how much acreage you are talking about but a good operator on a compact dozer can get you a long way in a short time. Not particularly good for getting stumps out, your backhoe is better, but nothing beats a dozer for pushing stumps into burn piles, popping and moving boulders (you said boulders, your loader can handle ordinary rocks), leveling and filling in. If you have big roots a dozer can run over your place with it's rippers and get them out. If you have a lot of stump holes to fill and other low spots expect some setteling. A dozer operator can build you some top soil piles that you can tap for fill dirt as this occurs. This kind of leveling is something you can do with your front end loader. Don't know where you are but a dozer "minimum" could save you a lot of work!
