I can agree with both of your suggestions, but will most likely tear it back apart and try the silicone or a new needle and seat. I hate to have to shut it down like a John Deere all the time. I have had this tractor 15 years and have never had to shut the gas off even over the winter. My problems started when my son in law used the tractor this spring and put 5 gallons of gas in, but he forgot to dump the dirt out of his can first. Then to top it off there are three different carbs for this tractor and the brass tag is missing on mine. Yep, the third kit I bought was the correct one. Sure gotta love these kids but at least he doesn't wear his hat backwards.
