9N Stuck Clutch????

OK all you expierienced old tractor buffs....How do I unstick my stuck clutch? Rusted I think from setting all winter. I've heard chain it to a tree and start it, start it in 3rd gear (which seems impossible since it has to be in neutral to start)
So give me some ideas, short of splitting the case to do it manually. Thanks Denver
