A few years back (10 or so) we had a Cobra at an airshow as a static display along with other military and civilian aircraft. The Guard unit watching it allowed people up the stairs and to look inside of the cockpit. I guess they got distracted because before they knew it, a young boy had climbed in. Before he was removed, he had broken several switches and controls clamoring over the panels with his feet. The bird was grounded until the mechanics could repair the damage to the point they thought it was airworthy again. Took almost the whole next day. The pilots drew straws to see who had to fly it back to the base just in case something major was still inop. Amazing what damage an unsupervised child can do. The CO was very POed at the group! Problem is, at that age I could see me climbing into that cockpit, given the opportunity. But, I do hope I would have done it without damaging any of the controls. ChuckG
