You should stroll over to the Ford 9n, 2n, 8n site. Lots of chatter over there and a great group of guys who love to help out. Some real characters too. As atated before, the S/N you need to find is stamped on the side of the block on a flat section by the oil filter. They can be tough to read sometimes but it"s there. You may have to use a wire brush or something to clean the area up. When you get the number you can click on the left side of this page to get the numerical sequence by year of manufacture.
