Well a few comments on this, I work in the as a sales person for a large auto parts group about 20% is retail sales and 80% is wholesale. The higher volume customers pay the same as retail on some items like oils etc, and get a 2% to 15% discount from a retail customer. Biggest reason you dont see alot of prices on stuff is due to a few reasons. 1-Cost of pricing and keeping it priced when most stores run under staffed to stay profitable. 2-Prices change 1-3 times a year due to manafacture price increases, steel costs and promotions, sales etc. 3-If price tags are removed on those items a wholesale customers buys, many complain when retail price is the same or not much off of it (big issue). I can tell you that our management this year is taking away any bonus programs if the pricing is not 100% done and current this month. So we are catching up with the big retailers. Yes I agree 100% on how you feel about having to ask for a price or having to guess if you have enough in your pocket to purchase an item. You will soon see all the parts stores looking more like Auto Zone etc.

He had told my father
