OT What is correct air pressure?

I am wondering what the amount of air pressure should be in a 20 gal pressure tank on my water system? I have a submersable pump, and an automatic waterer for my cows. It seems to me that the pump is kicking in and out to often. I had a new pressure tank and switch installed in August, but I think the air pressure is to low. Thanks for any ideas.
